What are the reasons behind the Center's Foundation

The wars and the disputes that Iraq has witnessed during the late quarter of the country have resulted in the increase of the severe violence whether on the social, family or matrimonial aspects. This is a natural consequence of the lasting effects of war: great suffering on economical, moral and psychological levels. In addition to this the diffusion of chaos and insecurity that succeeded the downfall and the collapse of the previous regime participated greatly in the increase of violence condition in the society precisely toward woman who was in most cases the victim.

The economical crisis could be considered the first cause that has driven some women and young girls into corruption and immoral behavior which do not fit and impair their dignity as women. They practice some wrong doings that humiliate them such as: begging and selling themselves in prostitution in order to earn their living and provide for their and their children's basic needs.

Besides what we have mentioned above, the custom and education of the strict Eastern society in general deprive woman of her rights to defend herself in front of the violence that she receives from her husband or any members of her family which she considers as something natural and she is obliged to accept with no objection at all.

These inhuman and harsh situations pushed the charitable and people of good will to initiate this centre to assist the Iraqi woman to reform what is hurt and broken in her spirit by creating an opportunity for her to express her stressed feeling and her suffering. She must be encouraged to take her leading and constructive role in building the future Iraqi society.
